Play’n Go is usually a master of creating slots that are centered around ancient Egypt themes, but it seems to have missed its mark on this one. This is an average title with some unique features, but that doesn't make up for its low payout and high volatility.

About Eye of Atum

Eye of Atum is a recently released slot from Play’n Go where you get to travel to ancient Egypt when the rulers of the land were the mighty gods. You can be worthy of Atum’s fortune if you can harness his unimaginable power. It’s almost identical to another similarly themed slot named the Eye of Horus.

Ancient Egypt is a popular theme among slot machines, and this new release from Play’n Go is no different. You’ll see all the usual decorations on the reels and in the slot’s background image. The reels are set up inside a temple dedicated to the Creator God Atum. There are palm trees on either side of the reels with a mystical purple hue in the background.

How To Play Eye of Atum

Eye of Atum is a 5×3 online slot with 10 paylines. This game only has a maximum payout of 2,000x the stake for a high volatility slot, which is quite low. The return-to-player value of the game is 94.2%, and you can bet between 0.1 coins to 100 coins per line in a spin. So, with the highest bet, you can expect a payout of 200,000 coins at the maximum.

Eye of Atum offers simple gameplay where you first set your bet by pressing the plus and minus buttons around the bet value button, and then you can start spinning the reels. You can choose to set up autoplay for up to 100 spins with options to stop when a certain limit is reached. You can filter by wins, free spins, win amount, or even the balance. You have a pretty comprehensive list of options to choose from so that you don’t lose all your funds.

All wins in the Eye of Atum slot game are paid from left to right except when there is a scatter symbol in any line. In that case, the win is paid in any combination. Only the highest win is paid per payline in case there are multiple winning combinations on the same line.

Eye of Atum Features

The game is packed with a decent set of features that make it slightly different from other ancient Egypt slots.

All the symbols on the reels are inspired by the game theme. The lowest-paying symbols are the Royals, while the premium symbols include the Ankh, Lotus Flower, Bastet, Whip, Scarab and the Eye of Atum. These symbols are in colors of green, purple, orange, blue, red and yellow. The Pyramid is the Scatter symbol and Atum is the Wild.

One of the most interesting features of the Eye of Atum slot’s action is the Wild symbol, the Creator God Atum himself. It will appear as an Expanding Wild that will cover the entire reel. It becomes a part of all winning combinations. However, it can only appear on reels two to four in the game. It also substitutes for all symbols on the reels except the Scatter.

The free spins are triggered by three Pyramid scatters on the reels in the Eye of Atum slot. In addition to a bonus of up to 500x your stake from the Scatters, you also get 12 free games. The scatters pay out a multiplier on the players’ bet. For five Scatters, you can get a massive payout of 500x the bet.

During free spins, the Expanding Wilds remain active. If more Atum symbols appear on the reels, he grants a symbol upgrade until the goal, the Eye of Atum, is reached. In this, the lowest-value premium icon will be upgraded. With each symbol upgrade, the chances of landing an upgraded symbol on the reels increase. It’s possible that all the premium symbols may be upgraded to get to the Eye of Atum on the reels. You can see the upgrade required for each symbol on the top of the reels whenever it is upgraded once.

For more free spins, you will need to get 1, 2 or 3 Wilds, which will trigger 1, 2 or 5 additional rounds of free spins. The number of free spins that you can win is capped at 150.

Eye of Atum Summary

Though the game isn’t unique in its design or theme, the features are somewhat interesting with options such as Expanding Wilds, free spins and multipliers. Its relatively low payout is certainly a huge downside to this game, especially with such high volatility.

Eye of Atum from Play’n Go is played on a 5×3 game grid where you can win up to 2,000x the stake over 10 fixed paylines and a game RTP of 94.2% while placing bets in the range of 0.10 coins to 100 coins per spin.
